YOU DECIDE YOUR DEVOTION

Picture
Leviticus 27:28-29 – “28Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall devote unto the Lord of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the Lord. 29None devoted, which shall be devoted of men, shall be redeemed; but shall surely be put to death.

Whatever you decide to devote your life to is what your life will reflect.

Devotion is defined as earnest attachment to a cause or person; profound dedication.

Devote is defined as to give up or apply to a particular pursuit, purpose, or cause.

If someone is devoted to their job, their life will revolve around their work.  They will always be talking about what they are doing at their job and how to make their job and what they do better.

If someone is devoted to their family then they will do anything and go out of their way to make sure their family is supported and safe.

What was Noah devoted to?  He was devoted for 120 years to building an ark of salvation.  What would have happened to Noah if he had not been devoted to that cause?  He and his family would have perished.  Oh yes, it was tough.  Oh yes, it took a long time.  But he was devoted.  Why?  Because he decided that his devotion was to God.

If someone is devoted to sin such as killing, drugs, sex, music, lying, cheating, stealing, etc. then they will be consumed by doing these things.

Adolph Hitler was devoted to the Nazi movement and demolishing the Jews and conquering the world.  If it had not been for him thinking that it was too easy, he would have conquered the world because nobody could stop him.  Why?  Because he was devoted.  He decided that his devotion was to conquer the world.

When you decide your devotion then that is what you will accomplish.

If you decide your devotion is to God, then God will bless you.

When you devote your time to God, then everything else in your life will seem to be easy and fun.

When you devote your habits to God, you will feel better about yourself with what you do in your spare time.  If your habits are praying, reading your Bible, and worshipping God with all of your heart during church, then you will feel better throughout the day when you are busy with school or work.

If you decide your devotion is to yourself and pleasing yourself, then you will find it frustrating to live this life because you will always be in constant effort because you can never please yourself.

When you devote your habits to trying to do what would please you by trying to find things in the world that are fun according to your flesh, then you will not be satisfied because it will never fill that empty place in your heart for satisfaction until you find God.

When you find God, he satisfies you and fills your empty place in your heart and then you feel free from the worries of this world and trying to satisfy yourself.

That empty place in your heart is filled with a gift that God promises all of us.  That gift is the Holy Ghost.  He does not have to give it to us, but it is a gift and we also do not have to take it.

No one can force a gift on you.  You can either decide to accept the gift or reject the gift.  You decide.

When God fills that empty place with the gift of the Holy Ghost, He asks for thanks in return.

When you decide to devote yourself to God, He will give you His free gift.

When you decide your devotion and truly and whole heartedly devote yourself to God, then you are able to give Him thanks for what He has decided to give to you.

You decide your devotion.

Whatever you decide your devotion is, then that is what your life will reflect and that is how your life will be.  It is your decision.

No one is going to decide your devotion for you.  It is your decision and your devotion.

If you decide your devotion is to God, your life will be blessed.

If you decide your devotion is to yourself and to the world, your life will be hard.

The choice is yours. YOU DECIDE.
